The Arc is actively engaged in designing
innovative life, health, property, liability and other individual and group
insurance programs that will benefit people with mental retardation and their
families as well as state and local chapters, by offering a sound choice for
managing risks. Listed below are the current insurance programs of The Arc.
INSURANCE POLICIES PROVIDED AT NO CHARGE TO CHAPTERS OF THE ARC
The Arc Fidelity Bond Coverage: Provides protection for loss due to dishonest act by officers, volunteers or employees. The policy has a $100,000 limit (subject to a $7,500 deductible).
POLICIES AVAILABLE TO CHAPTERS OF THE ARC AT DISCOUNT RATES
The Arc Directors and Officers Liability Coverage:
Blanket Policy: Provides protection for the chapter's directors, officers, trustees, committee members, executive director and all employees for losses they become legally obligated to pay by reason of a wrongful act or alleged wrongful act, including legal costs. It is written with a limit of $1,000,000 per chapter with a $5,000,000 national aggregate.
Coverage with No National Aggregate: Provides same coverage as the Blanket Policy, except is written with limits of $500,000, $1,000,000 or $2,000,000 with individual chapter aggregates. For additional information and application forms, please contact:
Property and Casualty Insurance Coverage: A flexible competitively priced, comprehensive property and casualty insurance plan that is designed to be purchased through your local agent, or directly from Palmer and Cay. INSURANCE POLICIES FOR WHICH MEMBERS OF THE ARC MAY QUALIFY
The Arc Security Life Insurance Plan for
Persons with Mental Retardation: Provides protection up to $42,000 in
increments of $3,000, at competitive rates, for persons with mental retardation
from age 2 to 60, renewable to age 80. The minimum coverage of $3,000 is
guaranteed for long-standing members of The Arc.
The Arc Security Life Insurance Plan for
Families and Friends: Provides protection up to $300,000 for members of The
Arc or their spouses. Proof of insurability required.
The Arc In-Hospital Dollars: Provides up
to $200 per day coverage when confined in a hospital regardless of other plans
in effect. Guaranteed to members of The Arc, subject to a limitation on
pre-existing conditions.
The Arc Medicare Supplement: Provides
supplemental insurance coverage for persons utilizing Medicare. Pays costs above
Medicare coverage, subject to limitations. Guaranteed to members of The Arc. For
