God Sang The Blues

 God sang the blues

when the forest sang

The blues man has the power

to paint a tapestry with his music

as sounds like streamers form a tapestry of beliefs

the forest of melodies begins painting a rhythm in my mind

the blues dripped down into my soul

and I was the sponge

the sponge of power

is God

Lalenja Harrington, local poet and facilitator, led participants through a synergistic collaborative writing process that encouraged creative input from all members. The workshop included exercises and creative tips developed with poets from The Arc of High Point who “bring it on” every month at Barnes and Noble. This innovative session concluded with an open mic designed to elicit the workings of the mind’s “inner groove.”
